At Avalon Recording Studio, we do all aspects of recording, from conception to completion:

Our base rate is $45/hour (all rates includes applicable taxes)

We also have unique recording packages to accommodate almost any recording project (see below).

We have 6 different Recording Packages:

(All packages include a CD master and a DVD-R digital master)

#1. Demo Package - $245 for 7 hours of studio time (i.e. 1 for set-up, 4 for recording, 2 for mixing)

#2. EP Package - $1100 for 30 hours of studio time (includes mixing). This package is designed for indie bands to record a 5- or 6-song EP, suitable for releasing and uploading.

#3. Songwriter Special - $250/song: includes arrangement and accompaniment services (guitar, bass, mandolin, backing vocals, drum programming), mixing and co-writing if desired. Other musicians’ services are available as well.

#4. Student Special - $395: 2 hour rehearsal time (with coaching), 1 hour set-up time, 4 hours for recording, 2 hours for mixing. Package includes vocal and instrument coaching, and guitar and bass setups*. This arrangement is ideal for students recording for the first time. The guitar setups are done by guitar expert Eric Griffin of Bridgework Guitar Service, right here in Dundas.
WW* max. 3 basic set-ups, strings are included for electric and acoustic guitars, but not for bass.

#5. Full Album - to record a complete album, you will receive full access to all the studio’s resources. The studio rate gets reduced to $35/hour with a minimum of 20 hours booked (4 to 10 hours per session). Steve is available to produce the album (producer’s fee to be negotiated). Studio lock-out rates are also available.

#6. Home Studio Package - If you have a small home studio, you can likely record your own instruments and vocals in your own house. But consider the importance of recording drums in a proper recording studio, and returning later to mix and master in an acoustically-controlled mixing environment.
- Drum sessions (including the drummer): $150 for the first song, $100/song thereafter.
- Mixing: $200 for the first song, $100/song thereafter.
- Mastering: $45/hour

* Regarding session musicians: we have the city’s best players available, on all instruments and in all styles. The rate is $75/song (or $100/hour, should a song take longer than one hour). These musicians are seasoned veterans with years of recording experience. In most cases, they can perform at or beyond your expectations in one take.
